POLAR PLUNGE to benefit Therapeutic Adventures ~ Massanutten Adaptive Snow Sports (February 11, 2018)

As part of the SNOWMOON FEST at Massanutten, the1st annual POLAR PLUNGE is an event for those daring individuals and teams who will are willing to “make the plunge” into the cold water at Woodstone Meadows. Participants raise monies by getting sponsors (friends, family, and businesses) to support their “plunge”. This event also helps to increase awareness about the important services provided each winter by Massanutten Adaptive Snow Sports.

OPERATION FREEDOM OUTDOORS – Adaptive Snow Sports Weekend for Disabled Military Heroes (February 16-18, 2018)

For close to 4 decades,TA staff has been honored and privileged to provide adaptive outdoor programs for disabled Veterans who have represented our great nation defending the freedoms we all enjoy. Our program, OPERATION FREEDOM OUTDOORS — Serving our Disabled Military Heroes, provides adaptive instruction and guide services, unique mentoring experiences, and personal development to aid in the healing, rehabilitation and re-integration of disabled active duty service members, veterans and their families. We have worked with military after they have returned home from serving in the Korean War, Vietnam, Bosnia, the Gulf War, Afghanistan, and Iraq. We have also worked with those who are victims of war and oppressed societies such as Somalia, and some Eastern European countries. The OPERATION FREEDOM OUTDOORS – Adaptive Snow Sports Weekend for Disabled Military Heroes is provided at Massanutten Four Seasons Resort.

INDEPENDENCE CUP – Adaptive Snow Sports Race and Celebration of Independence Awards Ceremony (February 25, 2018)

Now in its 21st year, the INDEPENDENCE CUP – Adaptive Snow Sports Race and Celebration of Independence Awards Ceremony is provided at Massanutten Four Seasons Resort. Each winter, this event highlights all the hard work, training commitment, and new found independence that our adaptive athletes discover on
the slopes. Not to mention, those who attend will also experience the creative enthusiasm of all our wonderful volunteers who show up in costumes.

SPRING FLY FLING – Fly Fishing and Therapeutic Outdoor Retreat for Women Cancer Survivors (April 6-8, 2018)

Now in its 12th year, the SPRING FLY FLING – Fly Fishing and Therapeutic Outdoor Retreat for Women Cancer Survivors is provided at Montfair Resort Farm and the Moormans River Trout Management Area.Throughout the weekend, the women are treated to “Rustic Elegance — Therapeutic Adventures — Outdoor Fun — Well Deserved Respite.” This event is provided by our ALL volunteer staff in partnership with Thomas Jefferson Trout Unlimited, Montfair Resort, Sentara – Martha Jefferson Cancer Center, the MJH Foundation – Women’s Committee, and many business partners. A tremendous amount of love and healing occurs as the women go through all the special activities that are a function of the event. As they say, we are all part of a bigger “Bug SlingerTMWarrior Sisterhood”.

10th Annual – PARK TO PARK 1/2 MARATHON benefitting Therapeutic Adventures (April 28, 2018)

It is hard to believe that April 28, 2018 will be the 10th Anniversary of the Run
the Valley – Park to Park 1/2 Marathon ~ Stuarts Draft ➝ Waynesboro.
One of the premier races in the mid-atlantic region, runners from across the country enjoy the beautiful course in the ShenandoahValley – Blue Ridge Mountains. The “Run the Valley” Race Organizing Team always do a great job. This race benefits the adaptive sports and adaptive outdoor adventure programs provided by Therapeutic Adventures, Inc. Over the past nine years, more than 5,400 runners have made there way to the Shenandoah Valley the last Saturday of April to embrace the importance of this “Run for a Cause” event. The race leadership team’s “attention to the details” have helped to make the P2P1/2M a priority on the annual race calendar for runners of all ages and abilities. This year we expect to attract 1,000 runners!

3rd Annual – Seas the Day – Veterans’ Outdoor Day (May 11, 2018)

Now in its 3rd year, the Seas the Day – Veterans’ Outdoor Day has become a popular event for Veterans and their families. Those who attend will enjoy a day of outdoor recreation, reunion, fellowship, and support. There is nothing like a great cookout and time be outdoors with new and old friends on a beautiful Spring day.

Thomas Jefferson United Way – DAY OF CARING: A MOORMANS RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT: TJTU and TA – Accessibility and Eco-Stewardship Project (September 19, 2018

Please join us at the Moormans River Trout Management Area on Wednesday, September 19, 2018.
As volunteers with our Day of Caring project – “A Moormans River Runs Through It,” you will be making the Moormans River Trout Management Area more accessible and eco-friendly for the adaptive programs we offer at this beautiful special regulations “Catch & Release” stream. Thomas Jefferson Trout Unlimited (TJTU) and Therapeutic Adventures (TA) manage this beautiful, local natural resource. It is the location where they offer many adaptive programs and camps.



ADAPTIVE ANGLERS ON THE FLY – Fly Fishing Camp for Disabled (November 16-18, 2018)

Now in its 15th year, the ADAPTIVE ANGLERS ON THE FLY – Fly Fishing Camp for Disabled is offered at the Moormans River Trout Management Area. is provided at Montfair Resort Farm and the Moormans River Trout Management Area.This event is provided in partnership with Thomas Jefferson Trout Unlimited (TJTU), and Montfair Resort. It also allows us to raise awareness for accessibility and eco-stewardship of this beautiful environmental area.
